After years of pioneering with green roofs, Dakbloemenweide is taking a new step. The company will continue under the name Wildr. The new brand name marks the next phase in the company's development and a new mission: to give nature a full-fledged place in the built environment. What started with roof flower meadows, a product that will remain, is now growing into an approach where the same philosophy is also applied to facades and the open ground around buildings. In this way, roof, facade, and outdoor space together form an aesthetic and functional ecosystem. With Wildr, the team wants to further expand that vision, also beyond the Netherlands.

Nature as a system, not as decoration

According to co-founder Marina Bosman, Wildr is about a different way of looking at greening. “We believe that nature should have a full place in the built environment. Not as decoration, but as a system that really works. If you make nature the guiding principle in smart design and management, solutions arise that are not only beautiful but also contribute to biodiversity, climate adaptation, livability, and a healthy city.”

“Dakbloemenweide was the beginning for us,” says co-founder Joost Vlot.
“But as we realized more projects, we saw that real impact is created when you include the entire building and its surroundings. With Wildr, we are giving that broader vision a new name. We are no longer focusing only on roofs, but also on facades and outdoor spaces. Precisely by approaching these integrally, you can better manage, for example, water management, maintenance, and monitoring biodiversity.”

Growing with a broader vision

With the new name, the company also wants to grow internationally, says co-founder Andy Dornan. “The demand for nature-inclusive solutions is increasing rapidly. Developers and cities are looking for ways to make buildings climate-resilient and biodiverse. At the same time, we see that the challenge often lies in integrating smart design, technical solutions, management, and long-term impact for people and nature. With Wildr, we combine ecological knowledge, design, and data to apply nature to roofs, facades, and outdoor spaces.”

Smart design as a foundation

Wildr’s green concepts are based on designs by Harry Pierik, a green designer with more than thirty years of experience in the field. His designs combine ecological knowledge with a strong sense of design and form the basis for green roofs, facades, outdoor spaces, and other green applications.

In Wildr’s designs, native planting plays an important role. These plants are adapted to the local climate and provide a valuable food source and habitat for insects, birds, and other small animals in the city. By applying a rich variety of plants, an environment is created that develops through the seasons and in which biodiversity can grow.

Who is Wildr relevant for?

Wildr works together with developers, investors, and builders on projects in which nature is included from the very beginning in design and decision-making. In many projects, portfolio choices and regulations are leading, while there are precisely opportunities to integrate nature smartly.

By connecting business case, design, technology, and management, Wildr helps to make ecological and climate-adaptive solutions feasible within existing frameworks. From initial planning to construction and maintenance, this creates an integrated approach that goes beyond simply ‘adding green’, and instead ensures more experience, biodiversity, and future-proof cities.

Building a new standard

With Wildr, the team wants to build cities where nature is once again a natural part of buildings and public spaces, nature that is not only beautiful but also works ecologically.
