Extensive roofs - Roof flower meadow

Roof Flower Meadow

A resilient biotope on a lightweight roof. The Roof Flower Meadow is an extensive green roof composed entirely of native species. In addition to water retention and reducing heat stress, the vegetation provides food, shelter, breeding sites, and nesting material for insects and birds throughout the year. Depending on the possibilities of the roof, we choose either the Regular or Robust variant.

Working at Wildr

We are building a new standard in which nature is an integral part of the built environment. We do this together with a team of designers, ecologists, and partners who work at the intersection of nature and design.

At the moment, we have no open vacancies.

However, we are always interested in people who identify with our way of working and want to contribute to projects where nature, technology, and design come together. Do you think you would be a good fit for Wildr? Feel free to send us a message via info@wildrgroup.com.

Parteon2

Robust

The self-sufficient variant, featuring over twenty native species and approximately fifty percent sedum. This variant does not require irrigation, making it particularly suitable for roofs where watering is difficult or undesirable. Its ecological value is high and it is still significantly more biodiverse than a standard sedum roof.

Which system will be underneath?

Circular and waterproof

The circular green roof by IKO and Wildr combines insulation, waterproofing, and biodiversity in a single roof structure. Biobased insulation and circular materials form the basis for a technically functional roof with reduced use of primary raw materials.

The vapor barrier, insulation, vapor pressure distribution layer, and top layer each serve their own function within the roofing system. Above these, the protective layer and filter layer safeguard the structure, while the drainage layer removes excess water. Circularity is achieved through the use of secondary raw materials in the technical layers, including the drainage layer. In this way, the system carefully combines material efficiency with the technical functions required for a biodiverse green roof.

Technical additions

The use of technology helps restore biodiversity. That is why various technical additions are possible to ensure optimal flourishing of species richness in the long term.

Moisture sensors

The use of a DBW Smart Sensor 55 or DBW Smart Sensor 110 provides 24/7 data on moisture conditions in the substrate

Irrigation

An irrigation system tailored to the requirements of the project ensures optimal water use and, where possible, a grey water source.

Smart water control

Providing water on demand prevents unnecessary consumption of one of the most precious resources.
