System engineering

Integrated advice on technology, habitat, cost estimates, and permit requirements

A strong habitat starts with a well-thought-out design. Wildr provides advice in the preparatory phase on everything nature on roofs, façades, and outdoor spaces needs. From vegetation and technical structure to water management, costs, and regulations. This way, ambitions, systems, and implementation are aligned from the very beginning.

Parts of system engineering

Habitat and planting

What type of nature suits this place? We look at sun, shade, wind, soil, and water availability. Based on that, we select vegetation mats, herbs, shrubs, and trees. We pay attention to flowering periods, food, shelter, and the connection to the surrounding natural environment.

Technology and system architecture

A biotope requires a suitable substrate. We provide advice on the relationship between vegetation, substrate, drainage, retention, and roofing. We also consider load-bearing capacity, root barriers, roof details, and the combination with solar panels. For green facades, we look at climbing aids, mounting, growing space, and water supply.

Water and soil

We connect the water needs of the greenery with the possibilities of the building and the location. Think of water storage, delayed drainage, rainwater reuse, infiltration, and swales. In open soil, we look at soil quality, rootable space, and soil improvement. In this way, water, soil, and vegetation form one coherent system.

Nature-inclusive facilities

We advise on how nest boxes, shelters, insect facilities, and other nature-inclusive measures can be integrated into the design. It’s not just about the provision itself, but also the location, orientation, accessibility, and the surrounding habitat. Where necessary, this is coordinated with third parties.

Costs and sustainable choices

We make the financial consequences of design choices transparent with cost estimates and alternatives. We look beyond construction: maintenance, water usage, lifespan, and replaceability also count. We weigh material use, origin, and reusability against technical and ecological performance.

Requirements and alignment

We identify relevant preconditions, such as municipal green standards, water storage requirements, the rainwater ordinance, and permit requirements. We translate these into design principles. We coordinate interfaces with the architect, structural engineer, roofer, and other specialists to ensure that responsibilities and required checks are clear in a timely manner.
